Views: Trading Places

A recent BBC documentary entitled "Are Our Kids Tough Enough? Chinese School" followed five Chinese teachers as they took over the education of 50 teenagers in a British middle school. Despite some early setbacks, students from the Chinese teachers' class ultimately went on to win a test competition from traditional British classes.

The program divided opinion in Britain. While some have called for a change in teaching methods found in the county's schools, others have rejected the idea that styles of education can cross the cultural boundary.
