Business Activities Slowed Faster in August than in July, PMI Figures Show

(Beijing) – China's overall business activities deteriorated faster in August than in July, as all the sub-indexes of the Caixin Purchasing Managers' Index for both manufacturing and services worsened month-on-month.

The indexes stood at 47.3 and 51.5 for manufacturing and services, respectively, in August, down from the previous month's 47.8 and 53.8, data released on September 1 show. A PMI reading above 50 indicates business expanded and one below the point signals contraction.
