Princess Bari

Bari is a survivor; as lucky as she is unlucky. The only one of her family to escape North Korea's devastating famine (euphemistically named the Arduous March), she starts a new life in China, only to be ripped from it under threat of loan sharks. She makes the modern day middle passage, a piece of cargo on a container ship, abused and deprived only come out the other side to face fresh tribulations as an illegal immigrant in London along with a cast of characters, many of whom have had hoed a similarly twisted road from the Global South to the promise of life at the center.
