Falling Walls

Upendranath Ashk's magnum opus, Girti Divarein – or Falling Walls as it is rendered in this new translation by Daisy Rockwell – was published in 1947, the year of both Independence and Partition. Askh died in 1996 and the book has only just now been released in English. With its seven parts, the book has been widely compared to Marcel Proust's Remembrance of Things Past.
