Dropping One-Child Policy Should Be Just the Start

The ruling Communist Party announced on October 29 it would abolish the one-child policy and allow couples to have a second baby in a bid to tackle problems brought on by an aging population.

The decision comes after authorities eased the policy in late 2013 to allow couples in which either parent is an only child to have a second infant, a change that stemmed from years of debate over family planning rules.
