Alibaba Said to Be Taking Stake in Publisher of HK Newspaper

(Beijing) – Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. will take a stake in the publisher of Hong Kong's oldest English-language newspaper, the South China Morning Post, a person familiar with the matter says.

Talks on a deal started a year ago between the e-commerce giant's founder, Jack Ma, and the paper's largest stakeholder, the family of Robert Kuok, the source told Caixin. He did not know other details of the purchase.
