Baby Formula Firms 'to Face Limit on Number of Brands'

(Beijing) – Baby formula manufacturers will be limited to making three brands each under rules that will come into effect this year because the government wants an increased focus on quality, people with knowledge of the matter say.

Under the new rules, milk powder producers will for the first time also be required to register their formulas with the China Food and Drug Administration much like drug companies must do for their medicines, the sources said.
