Company Behind Collapsed Landfill 'Transferred Operations'

(Shenzhen) – The company that won bidding to build and run a landfill in Shenzhen that collapsed and swamped an industrial park area with a river of mud, killing one person and leaving more than 70 others missing, later handed the operation to another firm, a source with knowledge of the matter said on December 21.

The landfill built on top of a hill to hold dirt taken from construction projects collapsed on December 20, engulfing about 30 factory buildings and worker dormitories in the industrial park area in Guangming New District, in northwestern Shenzhen.
