Shenzhen Officials End Cab Driver Strike with Payout Offer

(Shenzhen) – Cab drivers in the southern city of Shenzhen have agreed to end their two-day strike over what they say is unfair competition from taxi-hailing apps after officials offered monthly payouts.
The strike started on January 4 when several hundred taxi drivers gathered in front of a city government building in the morning to protest against what they said was a government failure to crack down private drivers providing rides arranged via car-hire apps, according to a Shenzhen official who declined to be named.
