Holidays Provide Huge Boost to Country's Movie Theaters

(Beijing) – Movie ticket sales during a recent seven-day period that included most of the major Spring Festival holiday and Valentine's Day soared to 3.6 billion yuan – more than the figure for all of 2007.

Box offices took in 3 billion yuan from February 8 to 13 – when workplaces around the country were closed for the holiday also known as Chinese New Year that kicked off on February 7 – data from a government organization that monitors box offices show.
