Closer Look: Time to Reform Ranking Systems at Universities

(Beijing) – The head of one of China's top colleges suggested at the recent annual meeting of the legislature that a system assigning a rank to university employees as if they were government officials should be dropped in a bid to clear up bureaucracy.

Lin Jianhua, a member of the National People's Congress, made the suggestion during an interview with The Beijing News. The call would affect Lin as well because he is the president of Peking University, one of the best universities in the country.
