Grids Show Little Interest in E-Car Charging

(Beijing) – Southern China's electric power distributor plans to install only a fraction of the battery-charging posts it admits will be needed to meet electric vehicle demand by 2020.

The plan for 25,000 charging posts announced May 25 by China Southern Power Grid follows a similarly underwhelming decision in December by northern China's distributor State Grid Corp. to install 120,000 charging posts over the next few years.
