Support Plan for Idled Industrial Workers

(Beijing) – China's top labor agency has announced a job retraining program for the estimated 1.8 million workers expected to be laid off over the next five years as the government trims industrial capacity.
Workers who lose jobs in industries such as steel manufacturing and coal mining will be able to apply for government grants to enroll in vocational training schools for new skills to get reemployed or to launch their own businesses, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security announced June 23.
