Microsoft Partners With Chinese Company to Create OS for Government

(Beijing) — Microsoft Corp. has begun co-development of a customized operating system for Chinese government agencies and state-owned enterprises, two years after Beijing banned the use of Microsoft's Windows 8 on government computers.
The American technology company said its joint venture with state-backed China Electronics Technology Group Corp. began operations Tuesday in the central city of Wuhan with a board meeting, according to a statement on China Electronics' website.
