Daimler Removes Top Executive Over Alleged Racist Rant
(Beijing) — German carmaker Daimler AG said it has removed a top executive who caused a stir on Chinese social media for allegedly making racist remarks during an argument over a parking space in Beijing on Sunday.
The maker of Mercedes-Benz automobiles apologized and said Rainer Gaertner, CEO of Daimler Trucks and Buses (China) Ltd., had been relieved of his position. The company did not clarify whether the executive was fired, demoted or transferred.
