Hong Kong Reports First New Domestic Covid-19 Cases in Two Weeks

What’s new: Hong Kong recorded two new local cases of coronavirus on Sunday after more than two weeks of not reporting any new domestic transmissions.
Neither of the patients, a 34-year-old woman and her 56-year-old husband, had recent history of travel.
The background: Hong Kong’s Center for Health Protection said the diagnosed woman began to show symptoms on May 22 and had repeatedly sought medical attention but was told that because she had no travel history and relatively mild symptoms there was no need for a test.
On May 29 the symptoms worsened and she called an ambulance, which took her to a hospital where she tested positive.
The woman’s husband tested positive shortly after, and Hong Kong authorities have quarantined the pair’s close contacts.
Hong Kong has confirmed 1085 cases of coronavirus to date, after a relatively swift early response that included shutting most direct travel to the mainland.
