Video: A Quiet Outbreak Sickens 3,000 in Northwest China
A recent Caixin investigation has found that thousands of residents around a biopharmaceutical plant in the northwestern city of Lanzhou have fallen ill. Last summer, they were exposed to a highly contagious and hard-to-treat disease as a result of contaminated factory exhaust. Most of the patients tested positive for brucellosis antibodies, but few have been formally diagnosed.
