Following Western-Style Covid Policies Would Cause ‘Great Disaster,’ Chinese Researchers Argue

China could face hundreds of thousands of Covid-19 cases daily if it were to follow the disease control policies of some Western nations, a paper published by China CDC Weekly said, arguing that this could “cause a great disaster within the nation.”

The paper uses statistical modeling to estimate the “plausible lower bound” of Covid outbreaks China could experience, using the epidemics in the U.S., the U.K., Israel, Spain and France as a reference. The authors did not specify why these five countries were chosen.
