Shanghai Covid Flare-Up Traced to Flight From Europe

The latest Covid-19 flare-up in Shanghai has been traced back to an Air China flight that flew in from Warsaw before flying domestically, an analysis of statements from different local health officials shows.

The case has sparked new concerns over China’s travel and disease controls, especially on carriers used for both domestic and international services.

The financial hub reported three local infections on Thursday, its first new cases in about three months. One of those individuals had flown from Beijing to Shanghai on Nov. 15, according to a notice published (link in Chinese) by the Shanghai Municipal Health Commission the same day.
