Guangdong Cities Urge Residents to Use Less Water Amid Record Drought

Multiple major Guangdong cities have issued warnings they may face a water shortage as the southern province has been struck with its worst drought in decades.
Tech hub Shenzhen has mobilized emergency response resources to cope with the drought, the city’s government said, urging residents to reduce their water usage.
“Shenzhen is experiencing its worst drought since the founding of the city [in 1979],” said Zhang Jian’an, head of the water resources management department of the city’s water supply bureau, during a press conference on Wednesday.
