China’s Services Growth Off to Slow Start in 2022, Caixin PMI Shows

Expansion in China’s services sector slipped to a five-month low in January amid fresh curbs imposed to contain Covid-19 flare-ups in parts of the country, a Caixin-sponsored survey showed.

The Caixin China General Services Business Activity Index, which gives an independent snapshot of operating conditions in the sector, fell to 51.4 in January from 53.1 in December, according to the survey report released Monday. A number above 50 indicates an expansion in activity, while a figure below that points to a contraction.
