Sailor shortage threatens global supply chain amid Russia-Ukraine war

The International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) said global merchant fleets will have a shortage of seafarers if sailors from Russia and Ukraine are blocked due to the current situation. According to the ICS, about 10.5% sailors on international merchant vessels come from Russia, and 4% from Ukraine. The shortage of sailors will add to risks facing the global supply chain, nearly 90% of which relies on international cargo fleets.
