China’s southern tech hub Shenzhen has asked all of its 17.6 million residents to produce negative nucleic acid test results within 48 hours before riding the subway, as it tightens curbs to control a growing Covid-19 outbreak.

The new requirement took effect Wednesday (link in Chinese), according to a statement posted by Shenzhen Metro Group Co. Ltd. on China’s Twitter-like platform Weibo. It remains unclear how long the measure will remain in force.
