Zhang Wenhong: China’s Pandemic Fight Can and Should Allow for Normal Life
The reality is not ideal. Recently, Shanghai went through its worst Covid-19 wave since the pandemic broke out with more cases than expected, resulting in strained medical resources. Several backup hospitals were put into use.
While visiting hospitals designed for Covid patients, I am also concerned about our centralized quarantine sites. Though the quarantine sites mainly receive asymptomatic and mild cases, there is a risk that infections might progress and become severe. Moreover, we must also address workers’ worries about being infected.
