Baidu appoints new cloud chief

Baidu Inc. has tapped executive vice president Shen Dou to lead the company’s AI cloud group as part of a leadership shakeup.

The role change comes as the firm tries to diversify its revenue base to lessen dependence on the online advertising business, which has been in decline. In early 2021, Baidu CEO Robin Li said that his company would seek to earn more than half of its revenues from nonadvertising businesses including cloud and autonomous driving within three years.
