China Accuses U.S. of ‘Political Manipulation’ Over Change of Taiwan Wording

Beijing has accused Washington of attempting to change the status quo across the Taiwan Strait by removing some key expressions of Washington’s positions on its ties with Taiwan from the State Department’s website.

The deleted expressions in the updated U.S.-Taiwan relations fact sheet included “the U.S. recognizes Taiwan is part of China” and “does not support the island’s independence,” both of which are seen by Beijing as part of the one-China principle that governs the cross-strait relations.
