Chinese Energy Titan Sinopec Gets New President

China’s ruling Communist Party appointed Zhao Dong, a senior accountant with extensive overseas experience, as the new president of state-owned oil refining giant Sinopec Group on Thursday, according to the company’s website.
Zhao, 52, is filling a vacancy left by Ma Yongsheng, who was promoted to chairman about half a year ago.
Zhao’s appointment comes as Sinopec is stepping up efforts to develop green energy in a bid to reach carbon neutrality, with ambitious plans for solar, wind and hydrogen energy. The company is one of the country’s “Big Three” oil giants.
