Automaker Geely shifts into smartphones with Meizu deal

A venture controlled by the chairman of Chinese automaker Geely has agreed to acquire a 79% stake in Chinese smartphone-maker Meizu from the latter’s founder and an Alibaba unit, China’s market regulator said.
