Hong Kong Drops Flight Suspensions for Managing Imported Covid

What’s new: Amid a recent surge in new cases, Hong Kong is lifting an order imposed more than a year ago that punished airlines with suspensions if they brought in passengers infected with Covid.
The so-called circuit breaker mechanism will be suspended starting Thursday, the government said in a statement. Under that system, airlines faced a five-day flight ban if more than five passengers or 5% of those on a flight tested positive. The suspension was reduced from seven days in April and from 14 days earlier this year.
