Chinese Envoy Accuses U.S. of ‘Hollowing Out’ One-China Principle

Chinese Ambassador to the United States Qin Gang reiterated China’s position seeking “peaceful reunification” of Taiwan and clarified its “nonalliance” relationship with Russia during the 13th Aspen Security Forum Wednesday as tensions intensified between the world’s two largest economies.

Qin called Taiwan the “most sensitive” issue in U.S.-China relations, especially after U.S. Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s reported plan to visit the island prompted the Chinese Foreign Ministry Tuesday to vow “resolute and strong measures” if the trip should take place next month.
