China Rebutts G-7 Statement on Taiwan as ‘Blatant Provocation’

China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned European and Japanese envoys to strongly rebut a G-7 foreign ministers’ statement concerning Beijing’s sanctions against Taiwan, calling the document a “blatant political provocation.”

“This act of distorting facts and confounding right and wrong is a wanton interference in China’s internal affairs,” said Vice Foreign Minister Deng Li, reinforcing (link in Chinese) the one-China principle as the political basis for China’s international exchanges on the issue.
