Visitors to Hong Kong Climb Amid Easing Pandemic Restrictions

What’s new: Tourist arrivals in Hong Kong continued to rise in July as the city eased stringent pandemic rules, the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) said Wednesday.

Provisional visitor arrivals for July exceeded 48,000, a 17% increase from 41,000 visitors in June, the authorities said.

Hong Kong allowed nonresidents to enter Hong Kong in May. In July, the city ended a so-called circuit breaker mechanism that banned airline routes that brought infected passengers. Earlier in August, it shortened the mandatory quarantine period for travelers to three from seven days.
