Chengdu and Shenzhen Impose Lockdowns Amid Covid Flare-Ups

Two more megacities in China with nearly 40 million residents went into lockdowns to control flare-ups of Covid-19 under the government’s stringent virus-control policy.
Southwestern China’s megacity Chengdu told its 21 million residents to stay home as of 6 p.m. Thursday. Chengdu detected 766 new cases since Aug. 25. The capital of Sichuan province is the biggest city to be shut down since Shanghai’s two-month lockdown earlier this year.
