Chinese state-owned carmaker Chery Automobile Co. Ltd. recently took two major steps signaling ambitious plans for high-end new-energy vehicles and driverless technology, industry insiders said.

Artificial intelligence chip startup Horizon Robotics said Monday that it received a strategic investment from Chery. Chery’s new high-end intelligent electric platform will adopt Horizon’s Journey 3 chip, Horizon said.
