Businessman Jumps to Death After Public Allegation of Dirty Cops

A businessman who drew wide attention on China’s social media by publicly accusing more than 20 police officials of corruption killed himself, Caixin learned from multiple sources.

Cai Yunfeng, a businessman in northwest China’s Gansu province, jumped to his death from his apartment building in Lanzhou around 4 a.m. Sept. 21, sources told Caixin.

Caixin spoke with Cai by phone the previous afternoon. During the call, he mentioned nothing about suicide. He didn’t respond to messages since late evening that day.
