German Investment Into China Has Increased During Covid-19

Germany’s foreign direct investment into China has been on the rise since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, with inflows hitting 3.19 billion euros ($3.12 billion) in the second quarter of 2022 and the four-quarter moving average reaching a post-Covid high, according to financial analysis platform Macrobond using data from the German central bank.

During the first half of 2022, German investment in China reached around 10 billion euros, surpassing the previous half-year peak of 6.2 million euros recorded since the turn of the millennium, according to Reuters quoting a German Economic Institute study.
