Huawei Pushes Smartwatches in Japan as U.S. Sanctions Bite

(Nikkei Asia) — Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. has worked to boost sales in Japan’s smartwatch market as the Chinese company’s smartphone operations are hamstrung by American restrictions on exports of cutting-edge semiconductors.
Huawei’s Japanese unit recently released a round smartwatch for business users.
“Since Japanese consumers are discerning, being accepted in Japan would lead to more success globally,” said Yang Tao, who oversees the company’s devices segment.
