Covid Infections to Peak in Shanghai and Guangzhou in Early 2023, Experts Say

China’s top infectious disease experts say major cities including Shanghai and Guangzhou will reach a peak in Covid-19 infections for this wave in the next one to two months, as the country gradually eases its strict pandemic control policies.

Zhang Wenhong, director of infectious diseases at a first-tier hospital in Shanghai, said the financial hub of 25 million will likely see its infections peak in three to four weeks, while it could take three to six months for the city to get through the pandemic.
