Jidu to develop AI system to guide its smart cars, CEO says

Jidu Auto, a smart electric car joint venture between Baidu Inc. and Geely, will gradually reduce its dependence on high-definition maps and increase its focus on developing a computer vision-based system that can make human-like decisions for self-driving vehicles, Jidu CEO Xia Yiping said Friday on the sidelines of the Guangzhou Auto Show. Computer vision is a field of artificial intelligence (AI) that derives information from digital images.
