China Restaurants See Diners Return For Lunar New Year, Meituan Data Shows

Dine-in restaurants and food deliveries in China’s largest cities are set to rebound this festive season after “zero-Covid” controls were scrapped, data from takeout and restaurant booking giant Meituan suggest, but insiders warn a sector-wide recovery will take time.

It comes as people begin to celebrate the Lunar New Year holiday — a time when family meals are front and center — with some eateries struggling to hire enough staff ahead of the expected rush.
