China’s 2022 Smartphone Sales Plunge to Lowest Level in a Decade

What’s new: China’s smartphone sales fell to their lowest level in a decade last year as consumers spent cautiously amid repeated Covid outbreaks, data from market research firms showed.

The number of smartphones shipped fell 13.2% year-on-year to 286 million, down from 329 million in 2022. It was the largest plunge for the sector in a decade and the first time since 2013 that annual sales dropped below 300 million, IDC said in a report. Data from Canalys showed a 14% decline.
