More Than 50 Trapped in Northern China Mine Collapse

A coal mine collapse killed at least two people and injured six while 53 remained missing at an operation in northern China’s coal-rich Inner Mongolia with a record of safety and other violations.
The open-pit mine collapsed Wednesday afternoon in the prefecture of Alxa League, burying workers and vehicles, according to local authorities. Eight people were lifted out of the mine, two of whom showed no signs of life, authorities said around 7 p.m.
