China’s Excavator-Makers Unearth Growing Business Abroad

What’s new: Exports of Chinese excavators outpaced domestic sales in the first two months of 2023, an industry group said, as analysts pointed to growing demand from the Middle East and Latin America.

China’s major manufacturers exported 16,964 excavators in the two-month period, up 14.9% year-on-year. That contrasted sharply with domestic sales, which fell 41.1% to 14,929 excavators during the period, according to the China Construction Machinery Association (CCMA).
