China and Australia Can Do More to Lower Trade Barriers, Official Says

A full resumption of two-way trade would be beneficial to both Australia and China, said Australia’s Assistant Minister for Trade Tim Ayres, noting more efforts should be made to remove barriers affecting Australia’s exports to its largest trading partner.

In an interview with Caixin last week during a visit to southern China for the annual Boao Forum for Asia, Ayres reiterated Canberra’s preference for dialogue with China to resolve “trade impediments” rather than disputing them with the World Trade Organization (WTO).
