Eight Provincial Officials Promoted to China’s Central Leadership
At least eight senior provincial officials have been promoted to leadership positions in China’s central government and the Communist Party’s central committee since the annual national political gathering known as the “Two Sessions” last month, according to Caixin’s calculations.
Two officials have been elevated to national-level leaders — Zhang Qingwei, former party chief of central China’s Hunan province, and Losang Jamcan, former deputy party chief of Tibet autonomous region — both elected as vice chairpersons of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, China’s top legislature.
