Beijing’s EU Envoy Warns of Risks if Bloc Curbs China Trade

China’s top EU envoy said he was “firmly against” Dutch export curbs of its chipmaking tools to China as well as any potential move to expand the restrictions to a broader EU policy, calling such an elevation unwarranted and unnecessary.

In an interview with the Financial Times on March 30, Chinese Ambassador to the EU Fu Cong said he hopes European governments and politicians can resist “unwarranted pressure” from the U.S. to decouple with China, urging them to persist in their “strategic autonomy.”
