China and France Deepen Trade, Political Ties as Macron Visits

China and France have deepened economic and political ties with a series of new agreements and a joint commitment to a political settlement to the Ukraine war through dialogue made by President Xi Jinping and his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron in Beijing this week.

China is ready to stand with France make a joint call to the international community to address the “spillover effects of the Ukraine crisis in food, energy, finance, transportation and other fields,” and to reduce the “negative impact on the world, especially on developing countries,” Xi said in a foreign ministry statement published Thursday.
