Chinese Embassy in France Plays Down Ambassador Lu’s Remarks on Ex-Soviet States

What’s new: China tried to play down the controversial remarks by its envoy in France about the sovereign status of former republics of the Soviet Union.

The comments by Ambassador Lu Shaye on LCI television were not a statement of policy but “an expression of personal points of view” and shouldn’t be over-interpreted, the Chinese embassy in Paris said Monday in a statement.
