Update: Xi Affirms China’s Commitment to Restoring Peace in Ukraine in Phone Call With Zelenskyy

Chinese President Xi Jinping affirmed that China will make efforts to promote talks and restore peace in Ukraine when he spoke with the country’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy by phone Wednesday afternoon, state media reported. 

“With rational thinking and voices now on the rise, it is important to seize the opportunity and build up favorable conditions for the political settlement of the crisis,” Xi said, according to a statement published by China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
