Beijing shouldn’t be afraid to offer support to Chinese solar companies that set up factories overseas, industry executives and analysts said, even as other countries roll out protectionist policies that some worry could erode China’s dominance over the supply chain.
China controls more than 80% of the global solar panel supply in every stage of the manufacturing process, including the production of polysilicon, ingots, wafers, cells and modules, according to an August report by the International Energy Agency.
